Technical Specifications
Product Description
This complete repair kit includes the N373 Haldex control valve and the oil pressure sensor for 2nd and 3rd generation Haldex AWD coupling systems. These two components work together to regulate hydraulic pressure within the Haldex coupling, controlling clutch pack engagement and rear-axle torque distribution.
What These Components Do
- N373 Control Valve: Regulates hydraulic oil pressure to the Haldex clutch pack, controlling the degree of rear-wheel drive engagement based on signals from the control unit
- Pressure Sensor: Measures actual oil pressure within the coupling and feeds this data back to the control unit for closed-loop pressure regulation
- Together they ensure precise, responsive AWD engagement under varying traction conditions
- Failure of either component causes immediate loss of AWD function and triggers fault code 02248
Vehicle Compatibility
This repair kit is suitable for vehicles equipped with Haldex 2nd or 3rd generation AWD systems. Always verify compatibility with your specific model:
Volkswagen
- Volkswagen models with Haldex Gen 2 / Gen 3 AWD
Audi
- Audi models with Haldex Gen 2 / Gen 3 AWD
Škoda
- Škoda models with Haldex Gen 2 / Gen 3 AWD
SEAT
- SEAT models with Haldex Gen 2 / Gen 3 AWD
Other Brands
- Volvo – models with Haldex Gen 2 / Gen 3 AWD
- Ford – models with Haldex Gen 2 / Gen 3 AWD
- Land Rover – models with Haldex Gen 2 / Gen 3 AWD
Common Diagnostic Fault Codes
A faulty N373 valve or pressure sensor commonly triggers the following fault code:
-
02248– Haldex Control Valve N373: Electrical Fault / Malfunction
Installation Guide
Installation Steps
- Allow the Haldex coupling to cool before starting work
- Drain the Haldex coupling oil before removing the valve or sensor
- Disconnect the electrical connector from the N373 valve and pressure sensor
- Remove the old N373 valve and pressure sensor from the coupling housing
- Install the new valve and sensor and tighten to the correct torque specification
- Reconnect all electrical connectors securely
- Refill with fresh Haldex coupling oil to the correct level
- Clear all stored fault codes using a VAG diagnostic tool
- Perform a test drive and verify AWD engagement
Why N373 Valve & Pressure Sensor Fail
1. Contaminated Haldex Oil
Old or degraded Haldex fluid deposits varnish and particulate matter on the N373 valve seat and pressure sensor membrane, causing sticking, blockage or incorrect pressure readings that prevent AWD engagement.
2. Electrical Connector Corrosion
The N373 valve and pressure sensor connectors are exposed to moisture and road debris. Corroded pins cause intermittent electrical faults and trigger fault code 02248, often resulting in complete loss of rear-wheel drive.
3. Normal Wear Over Time
The N373 valve is a solenoid-operated component that cycles continuously during AWD operation. Internal wear of the valve seat and coil assembly leads to reduced pressure control accuracy and eventual failure.
- Replace Haldex oil every 40,000 – 60,000 km to protect the valve and sensor
- Inspect the N373 connector for corrosion at each oil service
- Replace the N373 valve and pressure sensor together for best results
- Scan AWD module 22 if any dashboard warning lights or AWD loss is noticed
